Naropa (Tibetan; Sanskrit: Nadaprada, 1016-1100) was an Indian Buddhist mystic and monk, the pupil of Tilopa and brother of Niguma. Naropa was likewise Marpa's teacher.

Naropa occurs as lineage holder in the Tibetan Buddhist Kagyu lineage, and was considered an accomplished scholar. A great meditator, is better known for with enumerated & developed a six yogas of Naropa. These practices were designed to help achieve the other rapid attainment of enlightenment.

Numerous subsequent Kagyu Karmapas have been particularly adept at one or even extra one half a dozen yogistic practices.

Naropa was a right-known student of the Indian sage Tilopa. He declined to watch his father's trade as a liquor-seller. When attaching himself to Tilopthe, he was harshly-treated by his teacher across a period of dozen years; he was repeatedly rejected & chastised, despite his exemplary conduct as a devoted student.

He is considered one of a eighty-4 mahasiddhas, the 'saints' of tantric Buddhism.
